Enuresis (wetting in children)

Is your child older than 5 and still wets the bed? It is essential not to get the child stressed or punished and to see a specialist, who will examine your child and choose measures to stop enuresis in shortest time possible.

Characteristics of Enuresis and its Causes

Wetting (enuresis) is a term describing involuntary passing of urine in children aged over 5 years old. Most children have a perfectly normal bladder and sleep, but do not wake up when their bladder is full and wet themselves.

Primary nocturnal enuresis occurs in children who have never passed a night without wetting themselves.

Secondary nocturnal enuresis occurs in children who suffer from reappearance of enuresis after a long period of dry nights (at least 6 months). Its cause tends to be of psychological nature (parents’ divorce, death of a loved one, etc.)

Enuresis occurs more often in boys than in girls. 1% of adult population is affected.

Causes may be increased production of urine in sleep, low capacity of urine bladder, trouble transferring from wakefulness to sleep or genetic predisposition.

Nocturnal enuresis is a stressful factor and can lead to psychological issues, social handicap or feeling inferior.

If you suspect that your child suffers from enuresis, see your physician. They will rule out more serious disorders of the urinary tract and help stop enuresis through adequate treatment.

Enuresis Treatment – Rid yourself of the Issue

Treatment is time consuming and requires patience from the whole family.

It includes fluid intake schedule during the day and its limit in the evening. Regular sleep and urination just before sleep are essential.

Drug reducing urine production at night (desmopressin) has a quick effect.

An enuretic alarm, which wakes the child up when they are urinating, is another option.

3D Biomag therapy can be a supplement therapy for enuresis in children. Its goal is to promote general care with its anti-inflammatory and muscle-relaxing effect.
